United States Social Security Death Index (US SSDI)

Came at the attempt to find out when people died from a different angle. Started looking at US social security death indexes (US SSDI) - focussing on free:

Generally searched on first name, last name (married), and birth year using birthdate to confirm the correct entry. I took one that was several days off. Some had no entries. Was what I had in error?

Reporting

The list I worked from came from GRAMPS>Tools>Utilities>Verify the Data. There were many "Old age but no death" people. I trimmed it down by setting the maximum age to 110, and then 100, ...

In hindsight, I wish, I had printed a list of people with birth dates, and created columns for the databases I was searching. (It's not too late -- there are likely to be younger people that are dead. Where did that list go? Is it only under GRAMPS>Report>Book>Index?) The databases cover different time frames, may include the state issued, .... The search engines may work differently regarding imprecise data entered. None of the freebies I used covered obituaries. Does the library have this? Can I access it from home?

Also I wish I had copied and pasted all of the entries into one file per db to summarize what I found in this effort. If I use the generic "Sources and Citations Report", it does include my source text notes from the citations referencing sources (note: the findagrave source text is at the source level does not report), the reference to the death record (without the date or place), and repeats the person adding a smidge more info I do not find relevant to this effort. It does NOT include the attribute Social Security Number. It takes about 6 pages to print two dozen 1 line records.

Unrelated Notes:

Blogger has a WYSIWYG mode (pencil) and an html (bracket) mode. Don't know why I came up in html mode today. !!!

Did family search change? I am not seeing any of those blue icons with suggested records. I am seeing a list of tools to search with.
